FOTD to complement the Florida winter and mask depression

In February two things happened. My best friend came home to visit and we are the type of people who spend lots of time outside. It also got uncharacteristically cold in Florida.

On my BFF's last night in town I ended up having one of my favorite FOTD looks. I was dressed in head to toe black and needed some major color to brighten up my look. Of course since it was winter (and actually felt like it for once) I wasn't drawn to actual bright colors like orange..pink..purple.
I also felt like the dark lip was the perfect companion to this eye look.
The depression comes from having to say goodbye to my best friend, but at least I looked good doing it.

I don't know I just really liked this look so I hope you like it too!

Unfortunately I don't have any products to list for this look as I was trying to get out the door to my friend's house.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to think of a way to describe this look. can you think of anything?

This picture highlights the phenomenon known as uneven wings

a mirror OOTD picture thrown in for good measure...I assure you everything I was wearing was black...just different shades of black I suppose. I wore a black hooded dress, a black studded leather jacket from Dots, and a black studded scarf (I hid the studded ends because they clashed with the jacket)

So like I said I just wanted to share this because I really liked how it turned out :)

Throwback Thursday: Steampunk Ball

Back in September I got invited to go with my friends to The Castle for a Steampunk Ball.
The Castle is a club in Ybor that caters to the alternative crowd. Goth...punk...steampunk...cosplay...you name it and it's normal there. I had been wanting to go there for a while but had never been.
I didn't have anything to wear for the steampunk theme but people were dressed up as all SORTS of things and I wasn't out of place at all.
I'm so glad I went! It was so fun to dress up and check out a place for the first time. It was a blast!

So I never posted about the makeup and outfit I put together to wear there.

I wanted to dress up a little, and exaggerate what I normally wear. so I got to pick through my friend's closet and borrow her dread falls and shirt to wear. I tied my hair back and attached the dread falls to them. I matched my eyebrows to the pink dreads. Then I wore her purple studded shirt and matched the lipstick to it.

I wanted to do a dark look so I did a really dramatic black smokey eye and pink eyebrows.

We got to the club and had VIP tickets so we got to go in the VIP lounge, which was lots of fun. We also took absinthe shots and they do it the old fashioned way there. They have sugar cubes on the bar and they light them on fire and do a whole presentation so that was really neat!

There is a downstairs, upstairs, and outside area. And each is split up into a bunch of rooms. Each one was like you were in a different club, so it was fun spending time in different areas. My favorite part was that upstairs there was a burlesque show. That was so fun to watch! The best part though was that later the performer was talking to my friend (they knew each other) and she complimented my dreadfalls.

Above you can see that the look didn't end up as bold as I wanted it but I was running out of time and had to deal with what I could do. In reality it was a dark club anyway so it didn't matter in the end.

All in all, I'm really glad I went that night. It was a fun night with friends and a step outside of our normal routine. The night ended with me walking back to the car barefoot so I think that should sum up the night nicely. I haven't been back to The Castle yet, because I hardly go out to Ybor anymore (it's 45 minutes away). I could honestly write so much more about the wonderful time I had that night, it was a really great night out on the town with some of my closest friends.

So, I figured this was a good TBT post since it's now been so long in the past so I couldn't exactly feature it anymore but I still wanted to post the look. I hope you enjoyed it!

Honorable mentions: Looks that almost fell through the cracks

Since I'm still getting the hang of this whole ~blogging~ thing, sometimes I let perfectly good posts just pass me by.
I know. Shit's weak.

Family Birthday party look!

Hey lovelies I know it seems like I'm slackin' on the posting and I DEEPLY apologize! I have been trying to make my camera work with videos and it's been a stressful process.
VIDEO REVIEWS COMING SOON! :)

But for now let's get on to the makeup and outfit I wore!
It was my brother's birthday this past week so the family got together for some Publix subs and margaritas (as it was also Cinco de Mayo)

I had a rose gold and burgandy look goin' on. I know it's hard to tell the burgandy part but I'm about to post a picture of the makeup I used, and you can tell!

Now I know I've talked about my Profusion Palette a lot, as I use it in almost all of my looks! (because I can't say it enough: a review video is coming!!) but here's a sneak peak at what the actual palette looks like.
ooh, pretty colors!
As demonstrated by the arrows, these are the colors I used!

Here's the rest of the makeup used to get this look:
Face:
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation in nude beige
Physician's Formula multi-colored pressed palette in Buff
for contouring: Elf contouring blush & bronzing powder in St Lucia
unknown concealer (I hate containers that fade so you can't even tell what product it is!)

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer potion in original
the eyeshadows demonstrated above
Maybelline eyestudio gel eyeliner in blackest black
Covergirl lashblast volume waterproof in black
Nyx Eyeshadow trio in honeycomb for highlighting and eyebrows
eyelash curler from Forever 21 (how cute is that- purple + rhinestones = <3 )

As always when I'm looking forward to a long day, I topped it off with Urban Decay all nighter setting spray to make my makeup last! Not pictured is some lip color that I threw on and did not write down what it was
:(

Last but not least, you can peep my OOTD here:
everything I'm wearing is from Target! In fact the skirt was on clearance for less than $10. Now that is a steal!
