Schick Hydro Silk review

All images are courtesy of the Schick Hydro Silk facebook page
The product in this review was received for free through a giveaway held on their facebook. I am not being compensated for my review.

I am a little giddy to write this review and I'll tell you why: I never planned to review it.
You know that when you didn't plan to review something, and then had to, you got a pretty strong reaction from it!

A couple of months ago I saw that Schick Hydro Silk were offering full sized giveaways to the first whatever-something people who filled out the form. I am not a picky razor kind of person. I don't use them that often so I mostly get Venus brand simply because that's the kind I have gotten for as long as I can remember.

Ladies and gents, we all know the truth: razors are expensive. As someone on a budget, I tend to put off buying these suckers because you pay a lot for decent quality. So of course when I saw the giveaway, I rushed to it for the opportunity to save some money.

I had never tried the brand but I had of course seen the commercials- I'm sure you have too.
cue the music from the commercial in my head

So I received the box and did not use it right away. Finally I picked it up and opened it.

This razor is the kind that has moisturizing serum around the blades that are water activated and infused with shea butter.

Immediately, I was thrilled to find that you don't need shaving cream with this razor. The serum around the razor is buttery soft, and leaves your skin feeling moisturized and silky smooth.

The razor was very forgiving with going with the contours of my body, and I didn't find myself afraid of getting cut- not even once.

Overall, I felt compelled to review this product because I was blown away by it. I can definitely say that I will be buying refills to continue using this brand.

I am not a fan of shaving cream since it's kind of a hassle. So this product makes it really easy to skip that step without a worry!

Honestly, I reccommend this razor to everyone. It's a little pricey since it's not disposable and you can buy refills. The refills aren't that cheap either but honestly I find it worth it. Especially because with my sample they included some coupons for refills! On top of that, razors do tend to go on sale and I have seen other razor coupons floating around, too. So I think it's possible to have this razor on a budget. Plus, there's the money that you save on shaving cream!

I have definitely found my holy grail razor. Do you have a brand or type that you keep returning to? Or do you just buy the first kind you see? Or maybe you don't shave at all!

Follow your bliss,
Ember Darling

  1. Glad you are enjoying your new razor! I like to use the BIC disposable razors. Use it one time then toss lol. I try to shave less now because my skin is getting more sensitive and prone to razor bumps and so I've been using Nair. Have you tried those hair cream removers before? I love it because the hair takes longer to grow back.

I am not sure if you have done the Liebster Award tag yet? If not, I've tagged you =)

  2. haha that sounds easy enough! I hear ya, I actually haven't used any cream removers in a loooong time. They smelled so bad back then, I was pretty turned off by them. I'm sure by now they smell better haha. I should try them. I go a long time between shaving mostly because I don't feel an obligation to shave but also because I am lazy hehe

I did do it in July but thank you so much!! I just commented on your post and like I said I will mention you in my next post so that other people can check you out!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting and of course nominating me, you're so sweet xo
