Ariel Storylook palette look: FOTD

Of course the first night after I tracked down the Sephora Ariel Storylook palette, I had to create a look using only those shadows.

This is what I came up with.
I don't have a lot of pictures for this because I was at a friend's house (I literally couldn't wait to get home) and didn't have the best lighting. But I think you can still see

I created this look using the following shadows of the palette:

First color I used was Sea Witch, the purple at the bottom right. This went on my lid over Urban Decay Primer Potion, and over Nyx's eyeshadow pencil in Milk.
Next, I took dabs from both Flotsam and Jetsam, mixing the two together to create a smokey look that wasn't black. I think these colors worked really well with Sea Witch, even though they have blue and green undertones, I thought they looked good together.
To highlight below my brow bone and to brighten the inner corner of my eyes I gabbed a dash of Sick of Swimmin' (not circled, but in the middle of the 2nd row from the bottom, and Sea Shells

The look ended up looking only subtly smoked, but I still liked the tinge of darkness on the edges
I didn't use eyeliner, which is pretty rare for me. I just smudged some darker shadow in the outer v.

So this is the first (and so far, only) look I created using my Storylook palette. I look forward to mixing some of the brighter colors with some neutral colors to create some stunning color combinations. I think what I love most about the palette is that the colors work together well. You don't need anything else than this palette if that is what you are using.

Is this something you would wear out? Or is the purple a little too bright for your taste? Let me know in the comments, and again let me know if there are any colors you'd like to see a look for!

Ariel Storylook eyeshadow palette by Sephora Review

As you may or may not know, Sephora has come out with several sets of collections modeled after Disney Princesses. First, there was Cinderella, then there was Jasmine. Then, news hit that the third and final collection would be Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
As you may or may not also know part two: I have a Disney obsession. I was bummed that I missed the first two Sephora princess collections, but money just didn't permit for me to grab them.

But Ariel is arguably my favorite princess. I have a mutual obsession with mermaids, so it only makes sense!

I knew from the start that I would need to get my hands on at least something from the Ariel collection. I immediately zeroed in on the large Storylook palette.

See the story of the release and the rest of my review after the jump!

Sephora birthday haul!

If you have a sephora near you (or ever plan to buy things online from them) I highly recommend joining the beauty insider program. It's free to join and let's you accrue points with every purchase. But the biggest perk of joining is the birthday gift you recieve!

I just picked mine up today and I can't wait to try them out!

I have never tried Benefit brand, as it is a little pricey for a budgeting beauty like myself. But I have heard LOTS of things about the brand, especially these two products.
This cute little box included a sample size of their They're real mascara and a smaller sample of their watts up highlighter.

I am so excited to try out these products! I am going to be super sparing with them since they are so small. I am afraid that if I fall in love with them, I'll need to buy the full size versions! However the good news is the sample size of the highlighter is only $8. That's not so bad, in my opinion.

So I tried to beeline in and out of the store without spending any money but, of course, the clearance section caught my eye. I was delighted to see a $1 bin with a ton of sephora brand mini nail polishes in it!
I picked up a few because for only $1 I couldn't resist. Because they are miniature the ingredients are REALLY hard to read, but I don't think these are big-3 free, which is a bit of a bummer. But I couldn't pass these up!

I am most excited for the one on the left! As you can see it is a purple/green duochrome, which great shimmer to it that the camera couldn't capture. It's called midnight crawl. It's kind of funny that it shows up mostly purple in the picture, because it looks mostly green in real life. Either way I can't wait to see it on the nail and I will for sure post what it looks like!
In the middle is money maker which is an interesting shade of gray. I don't think I have any gray polishes so I had to snatch it!
On the right is 1st night which is a pale dusty pink. I realized recently that I have NO light pink shades but I have an embarrassing amount of hot pink shades. When, in reality I am much more likely to wear a pale/light/baby pink more than a hot neon pink. So I got this one, too!

What do you think? Are you a beauty insider? Did you snatch up your birthday rewards from them?

4/20 makeup

I know this is a belated post but better late than never! Here is the look I threw together on Saturday. I got a little festive. No offense to anyone else who doesn't celebrate :)

This look was created with my Profusion palette. I have come to love this palette- be on the lookout for a review video coming soon!

I tried something new and put sephora kohl stick eyeliner on my eyelids before applying the eyeshadow. I really liked the result!
Excuse the raggedy look and flyaway hair. I didn't get any good pictures at the beginning of the day so I tried again at the end of the day. Thus, these pictures are after hours of wear!

Products used for this look:
Covergirl LashBlast mascara
Profusion palette
Sephora Smoky Kohl eyeliner in black
I always finish my looks with Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray

Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to which face products I used but I think the main focus of this look is the eyeshadow anyway.

Hopefully you like this green-friendly look!
