Seattle Seahawks Superbowl Makeup

I may not be a huge football fan, but I love the excitement that surrounds the Super Bowl each year.

Between the rivalries, delicious food, top notch commercials, beer, and entertaining half time show, I think there's something for everyone. If nothing else it's a good excuse to get together with some friends, eat some good food and drink some cold beer!

Even though I don't follow football closely, I do enjoy watching it. I don't have any favorite teams so I just choose my favorite team out of whichever 2 are playing in the game I'm watching.

However, I have a huge soft spot for Seattle because I have plans to move there within the next few years. I consider it my future home and for that reason, I am a supporter!

So this year I thought I'd show my support by doing my makeup in Seahawks colors.

Unfortunately as we all know by now, the Seahawks ended up losing in a nail biting ending. I was disappointed but then flipped my tv to the Puppy Bowl and let's be honest, it's pretty hard to be upset after that!

I think my favorite thing about this look is that it's almost entirely budget-friendly products!

On my eyes I first put down a base of Nyx jumbo pencil in Milk to make the colors pop
I put a mid tone teal blue from the BH cosmetics 120 palette (1st edition) all over my lid, leaving the inner corner bare
I put a dark navy blue in the crease from my Profusion black jewel palette (swatches here )
I added a bit more depth in the outer corner with the matte black from the Wet n Wild I <3 matte 8-pan.
I mixed some neon greens from the BH cosmetics 120 palette and applied it to the inner corner, bringing it down on my lower lid and blending.

The last step I did that I regret is I used the shade Sabbath from the Urban Decay The Black Palette to line my lower lash line.
Every time I use something from The Black Palette I am reminded that these colors just do not work for me. They go muddy immediately and the color blends away leaving just a blackened mess. This application was no exception.
The Black Palette was actually my first experience with Urban Decay, and I got it on clearance. I'm glad I didn't write off the brand after that experience because I read several reviews that echoed the problem I had.

Shades marked with a daisy were all the ones I used from this palette.

I really like this look.

To complete it I wore my favorite lipstick combination that I can't get enough of lately. More to come on that soon! It is also bargain brands, but unfortunately they were limited edition products.

So that was the look I wore to bring some team spirit into the game. Sadly it wasn't enough. Maybe next year!

As for the rest of the game, I enjoyed Katy Perry's half time show, especially Missy Elliot's guest appearance!
I also loved how everyone on my twitter feed was live tweeting the half time show. My favorite part was the fireworks and when Katy rode off on a the-more-you-know shooting star.
I think my favorite commercials were the Budweiser puppy commercial (of course!) and the Liam Neeson commercial. I will admit though I did miss quite a few, including the girl-power tampon commercial but I did hear about it and loved what I heard!

Throwback Thursday: Peach & Blue Makeup

I know I've been slacking on posts lately. It's a mixture of feeling uninspired, being broke (so not a lot of new cosmetics coming in to review), and being really really lazy.

Even though I don't have anything new to show you (yet- I'm working on it!!), instead I'm gonna share a #TBT post.

This Throwback Thursday is from a few months ago when I went out with some friends. Before this, I hadn't put makeup on in weeks so I was so excited to try something fresh.

I played with the color combination of peach/coral and baby blue. Two colors that I never thought to put together but they didn't look too bad.

My wings for this look were definitely inspired by Tori aka Biohazardous Beauty  and I was pretty into them.

For eyeliner I used the Chella Indigo Blue eyeliner that I got in an Ipsy bag. Even though it's gorgeous, it was very hard to use. It's a temperamental eyeliner for sure!

Well I hope you enjoyed that walk down memory lane- you know it's a throwback when it was before I had my Iphone!

4th of July makeup- red white and blue cut crease

4th of July may have been weeks ago but that doesn't mean I'm done talking about it!
The truth is that I will probably never be one of those bloggers that posts their makeup/nails for an event..before the actual event happens. I mean let's just be real I don't know what I'm wearing until I put it on my face on my way out the door!

So here's what I came up with for July 4th this year. A totally predictable red, white, and blue cut crease

Pretty patriotic looking, eh?

This look came to life thanks to my Sugarpill @#$%! pressed eyeshadow (red), Nyx Jumbo pencil in Milk and Wet n Wild white from I <3 Matte 8-pan (white) and Chella indigo eyeliner (blue).

Then I completed the look with Nyx soft matte lip cream in Amsterdam

This was definitely a very tricky cut crease since white is obviously very easy to mess up!! So I'm pretty proud of myself for keeping it white!

Once again I must comment that the Chella eyeliner is extremely difficult to use. I discovered this is because the liquid does not come out when you first press down, so this makes it difficult to make an even and straight line because you actually have to put the pen down ahead of where you want to start, for the line to show up where you want it.

All in all I was feeling very festive!

Now here's some bonus pictures of me messing around with some sparklers! You can kinda see my outfit in these pictures which is, of course, very festive at all.

For what it's worth the top is from Target from 2 years ago that I got on clearance for $3 and kept saving for July 4th. Well I missed last July 4th because I couldn't find it so I finally got to wear it this year!
And the red pants are from Kmart.
I live on a budget, yo.

Birthday Makeup part 2: as close to neutral that I get

I know it's a few weeks late now but I'm still gonna show part 2 of my birthday makeup (and yes, there is a part 3 coming!)

The weekend before my birthday I decided to go out to a local bar (club?) for sink or swim night and dancing.
I am terribly sad that in all the excitement, I didn't get a picture of my outfit even though I was pretty stoked on it. However I did take a picture when I was trying on the outfit.

Anyway I decided to do somewhat simple makeup because I had a really busy patterned top on.

This is basically as close to neutral makeup that I get. I stuck to more neutral colors but added a pop of mint green in the corner.

Of course, that still wasn't enough color so I put on purple lips to complete the look.

I did an ombre lip similar to the ones I've been rockin sporadically since easter. MAC Punk couture is on the outside but I can't remember what I used for the inside.

Anyway I should have done something darker or brighter to make it more noticeable in the dark.

We ended up not staying long and decided to walk down the street to a Gamestop. It's basically a big arcade for adults with a bar and everything. We only had a little more than an hour to spend there before they closed, but we had a lot of fun! My boyfriend and I were able to rack up a ridiculous amount of tickets to spend. We traded them in for candy, tattoos, and a rhinestone covered princess wand for yours truly.

After that, we finished the night up by going back to the bar for a few more drinks before last call.
On our way back to the bar we passed another bar that was blasting NSYNC and to be honest that was the highlight of my night.

All in all it was an unexpected birthday celebration but I had fun!

I ended out the night with my boyfriend sneakily requesting We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus and dedicating it to me for my birthday. Then the lights came up and it was time to go home!

I ended up having a great pre-birthday weekend, even if my makeup WAS on the boring side ;)

Red Coat Tuesday: 100th Episode!

As you may or may not know, Pretty Little Liars is my favorite TV show. I am horribly, insanely obsessed with it.

When I discovered ColorMeSoCrazy started a Red Coat Tuesday tag, I was already doing PLL themed nails for big episodes. I'm gonna love this, I thought! I'll do this awesome link up every week! Cue an embarrassing amount of Tuesdays later, and I am just now able to get a post up in time! I felt especially motivated to join in this week because it's a special occasion- the 100th episode!

Usually the rules of the linkup are simple: put together a beauty look incorporating the color red. Usually this is nail art (get it? Red, coat??) but makeup looks are also welcome.
But this week had an extra challenge: incorporate the number 100 into your look, and get creative!

So I put together a makeup look. And yes, I incorporated 100! At first I was stumped. But then I got a little creative and snuck it in!

I have to start off by saying this is one of my favorite looks I've ever done. I love it so much!

So what's the deal with that funky swirl, you ask? Well, it's my rough interpretation of the Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbol for 100!
Here's the thing. I know it's pretty wobbly. Out of place, even. But I am not kidding when I say I had to try 10+ times just to get it to look like this. So, yeah, this was the best it was gonna get.

But I thought it was a fun sneaky way to put 100 in my look.

I left one side without because I really, really loved the look without the swirl.

Aside from my usual holy grail items, the starts of this show are above.
Jesse's Girl waterproof eyeliner pen, Wet n Wild I <3 Matte 8-pan for the black. Smashbox Russian Rouge, and Sugarpill limited edition @#$%! eyeshadow.

Both the Smashbox and the Sugarpill eyeshadows were graciously gifted from my dear blogging friend, Autumn. I have her to thank for my first Sugarpill product!!

The next 2 pictures were taken with my iphone with no flash, just illuminated by my light-up mirror.

To achieve this look I first put a Sephora kohl liner in the inner and outter corners of my eye. I blended that and added matte black eyeshadow on top. I put a few dabs of Nyx Milk chubby pencil in the center and pat Smashbox Russian Rouge on top of it. I then layered Sugarpill's  @#$%! and continued to blend, then add more black, then blend, then add more red, until I was satisfied.

It's true what they say, blend blend until you think you can blend no more. Then blend some more. I still could have blended more!

Funny that the red mixing with the black gave it almost a purple feel. I assure you, it's black and red!
I used the Jesse's girl waterproof eyeliner pen to draw the hieroglyphic. I smudged the black eyeshadow along my bottom lid and then smudged the red overtop of it.
Lastly, I am wearing Nyx Matte lipstick in Perfect Red.

Mermaid-Inspired Makeup Look

So last week was my birthday. I didn't do much but one thing I did do was go to the movies. (To see TFIOS. Again.). We went during the morning to take advantage of the lower prices and then grabbed some macarons across the street.

Even though it was a low-key day I really wanted to do a fun makeup look. I completed the look with a wig that I recently got and from there I just felt so confident.

Enough talk, let me show you the look! Unfortunately because we were rushing to make a movie, I didn't get a ton of pictures.

I loosely based this look off of a youtube video I saw a couple days before, and it must have really resonated with me because I mimicked the color combination.

I used mostly Profusion Cosmetics products for this really! First I applied a NYX chubby pencil in Peacock then patted the teal-blue eyeshadow from this Profusion palette on top. I smoked out the top with the purple shade also from that palette. I used the Urban Decay Naked palette to blend out and highlight my brow bone. I also lined my bottom lid with the purple and blended it out, and lined my waterline with Peacock.

This wig guys. come on! I would love if my real hair looked like this. The length, the color, the curliness. I love it!!

I wore a blue crop top from Target and amazing holographic leggings. I really wish I got a better picture of my outfit because I think it helped with the mermaid vibes!

I'm honestly pretty obsessed with this look.
Finally my lips were a subtle ombre. I'm wearing MAC Punk Couture on the outside and NYX Macaron Lippie in Violet in the center.

I definitely want to attempt this look again and get better pictures. Maybe even with a real tutorial!

Maleficent Inspired makeup look

So since I'm utterly obsessed with Disney, I've been looking forward to the Maleficent movie ever since I heard the first whisper about it.

When my Queen Lana Del Rey released her version of the classic "Once Upon a Dream" I could hardly contain my excitement anymore.

Since my boyfriend and I are trying to save money we have had to cut back on a lot of fun things but I made him promise recently that we would go on at least one date a month. A real date, which we hardly ever do anymore because we've been together for so long.
Well when he does a date, he does it for real! So we planned to see Maleficent on Saturday night.

Well I wanted to do my makeup just right and in turn, ended up making us late. We went to see it in 3D and we wanted to get DBOX seats (seats that move) but we got there too late. We bought our tickets literally 2 minutes before it started so we ended up having to sit in the very front section, but it wasn't so bad.
After my look, I'll talk about the movie so read on!

Obviously I had to do a look inspired by Maleficent. Since Angelina Jolie's makeup is a little boring (although gorgeous! just not fun to recreate) in the movie, I modeled it after the cartoon original mostly.

I decided to do a purple smokey eye with a green inner corner and, of course, a wing.

On my lips, of course, I wore my MAC True Love's Kiss which is from the Maleficent collection.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! It's amazing how far I've come with blending and yet still how much I have to go. I thought it was really great when I did it but looking back I can provide a more clear critique of myself.

I used mostly my BH Cosmetics 120 palette. I also used the Wet n Wild I <3 Matte 8-pan

I still really like how it came out.

As for the movie, I really liked it. I heard complaints that it moved too quickly and I can understand where they are coming from. It could have been more lovely if it were longer. I still liked it though.

Angelina Jolie, as expected, commands the screen so easily. And I like the direction the story went, with a twist on a classic.

After the movie (which we saw at the mall) we stopped at Bar Louie which is also in the mall. I had never been there so we stopped in for some drinks.

I had the Smores Martini, pictured above. It has chocolate sauce and graham cracker crust and marshmallows in it. It was pretty good but also kinda thick and not something I would normally desire to drink. It was nice for having "a drink" but not ideal if you are planning to have a few (or more :P ), you know what I mean?

All in all I had so much fun dressing up to go out on a date with my man. I definitely suggest everyone see Maleficent, and in 3D for sure!

Throwback Thursday: Steampunk Ball

Back in September I got invited to go with my friends to The Castle for a Steampunk Ball.
The Castle is a club in Ybor that caters to the alternative crowd. Goth...punk...steampunk...cosplay...you name it and it's normal there. I had been wanting to go there for a while but had never been.
I didn't have anything to wear for the steampunk theme but people were dressed up as all SORTS of things and I wasn't out of place at all.
I'm so glad I went! It was so fun to dress up and check out a place for the first time. It was a blast!

So I never posted about the makeup and outfit I put together to wear there.

I wanted to dress up a little, and exaggerate what I normally wear. so I got to pick through my friend's closet and borrow her dread falls and shirt to wear. I tied my hair back and attached the dread falls to them. I matched my eyebrows to the pink dreads. Then I wore her purple studded shirt and matched the lipstick to it.

I wanted to do a dark look so I did a really dramatic black smokey eye and pink eyebrows.

We got to the club and had VIP tickets so we got to go in the VIP lounge, which was lots of fun. We also took absinthe shots and they do it the old fashioned way there. They have sugar cubes on the bar and they light them on fire and do a whole presentation so that was really neat!

There is a downstairs, upstairs, and outside area. And each is split up into a bunch of rooms. Each one was like you were in a different club, so it was fun spending time in different areas. My favorite part was that upstairs there was a burlesque show. That was so fun to watch! The best part though was that later the performer was talking to my friend (they knew each other) and she complimented my dreadfalls.

Above you can see that the look didn't end up as bold as I wanted it but I was running out of time and had to deal with what I could do. In reality it was a dark club anyway so it didn't matter in the end.

All in all, I'm really glad I went that night. It was a fun night with friends and a step outside of our normal routine. The night ended with me walking back to the car barefoot so I think that should sum up the night nicely. I haven't been back to The Castle yet, because I hardly go out to Ybor anymore (it's 45 minutes away). I could honestly write so much more about the wonderful time I had that night, it was a really great night out on the town with some of my closest friends.

So, I figured this was a good TBT post since it's now been so long in the past so I couldn't exactly feature it anymore but I still wanted to post the look. I hope you enjoyed it!
