Happy Mean Girls Day!

Truth be told, I've been looking forward to this day for a while now. Once I realized the 10th anniversary of the iconic movie's release was coming up, I let my mind wander at all the different ways I could honor it.
I've already done the obvious and watched it 2 and a half times.

You may think it's silly to get so excited about a movie. But this movie set the tone for my adolescence and has never left my heart. I still watch it every single time it's on TV. I have seen it over a hundred times.

When I was in middle school, my best friend and I would order it off pay per view because we were under the impression that if you cancelled the purchase before you watched the movie all the way through, it didn't count! Yeaaah. We literally ordered it every night that summer. Once her parents got the bill they wanted to kill us. But we really didn't know better and we didn't know how much it added up to be.

Mean Girls is one of the only movies that I can watch over and over and never get sick of. Every time I watch it, something new catches my eye. It is chock full of recognizable punch lines, most of which is surprisingly intelligent for a "teen blockbuster" movie. This, of course, is due to the fact that the script was written by Tina Fey. It is based on a nonfiction book about girls trying to make it through high school. She wrote the story based on that.

Now that I'm older I appreciate the film in so many new ways. It taught us all that "calling someone else ugly won't make you any prettier. Calling somebody else fat won't make you any skinnier." etc. It taught us that we females should stop calling each other sluts and whores because it only makes it okay for guys to call us sluts and whores. Even though I don't agree with that exact sentiment, I take it as the overall meaning that we shouldn't put each other down because that makes it easier for guys to do it to us.

Anyway to say I'm obsessed with the movie is an understatement. I can say every word on time with my eyes closed.

So to pay tribute I did so in the best ways I knew how. I wore pink (because duh, it's wednesday) and I wore my mean girls necklace!

For starters I bought this necklace quite a while ago off ebay for $20. I originally saw it on Domino Dollhouse but I waited too long to buy it and then it sold out! So I searched and searched and found it on ebay and didn't waste any time- snatched em right up. When it came I held onto it because I didn't want to wear it until today. Its really clunky but I love it.

I wore a pink headband with a bow to go with the pink motif and I used Elf lock and seal to make pink eyeliner.

You can see the eyeliner and headband better in this picture! and of course the necklace :)
For the eyeliner I used MAC pigment Bright Fuchsia.

The pigment I turned into eyeliner is on the left, and then the polish that I used.

I finally got around to using my first Ellagee polish! it's from the Dolphins collection called ERMAHGERD DERFENS and hellooo dolphin glitter!!!! I was so excited for this collection and I haven't even had a chance to really play with it yet.

I chose this one because obviously it is pink!
And of course, a nice coat of Seche Vite fast drying top coat because the dolphin glitters are prone to sticking up.

I didn't get the best pictures but basically I really like this polish. It's jelly and this is about 3 coats. I did have to fish a little for the glitters but it was worth it, and not too much of a pain in the ass.

It's really hard to see the glitters in the pics I got but I think you can tell that they are there. It looks a lot better in person!

Last but not least is a better picture of the eyeliner, coupled with a sneak peak of my Nyx Macaron lippies! Lookout for that post coming SOON! :)

So I hope everyone had a very fetch Mean Girls day. I hope you quote it until your heart was content. I know I did.

And I can't let this day go without acknowledging my other obsession and say that tomorrow-

Influenster Uni Vox Box

I received these samples for free via Influenster to try and review. All opinions are 100% my own!

I recently got a Vox Box from Influenster that's perfect for college students.

This box was jam packed with goodies that I was soo excited to try.

From left to right you can see a pack of Playtex Sport tampons, Rimmel Stay Matte liquid mousse foundation n 103 True Ivory, Red Rose black tea water enhancer, Pilot Acroball pen, NYC expert last lipstick in Forever Fuchsia, and imPRESS press on nails.

I was super excited about this Vox Box because almost all of these were items I already was considering trying. The only item in this box that I don't have a use for is the tea drops- I don't like tea. However, I think the idea is really smart- they are flavor drops that you add to water that makes it taste like tea. It can be used hot or cold so I think it's a great product for someone who likes tea. I plan to give it to a friend of mine that is  huge fan of tea.

The other product I haven't used yet is the Playtex Sport tampons. Because, duh, it's not up to me when I can try them out. However Playtex is already my favorite brand for feminine products so I suspect I will like them.

The Acroball pen is a good pen. I am pretty pick about pens, I'm not gonna lie. But there is always room for more pens in my arsenal! This one was great but a little spotty when I first tried it. I plan on taking it to work or throwing it on my purse to make sure I have a pen on me on at all times.

Since I run a beauty blog it should be no surprise that I was most excited about the beauty products.

I had heard lots of great things about the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation so I was looking forward to trying it. I have to admit I didn't know until I tried it that it was a mousse foundation. I was a little hesitant since you never know if the shade you are being sent will be a good match for you. But it matched me pretty well!

Here I am after making the Stay Matte Switch. It is good coverage and definitely matte. A little too matte, almost! I didn't need to put on my powder after this which is part of my normal routine. I feel like adding powder would have made it too powdery for sure. You can see by my piercing (that I covered with a band aid while applying the foundation) you can see where the foundation stops and tell that it looks a little...powdery. Cakey, if you will. But overall I think this is something easily fixed with some setting spray or any other product that adds some dewiness back to your face. I would rather be too matte than too oily!

I don't have typically oily skin so I do wonder if this foundation would work better on someone with oily skin. I'm not sure but it worked just fine for my skin.

In addition to wearing the foundation in these pictures I am also wearing the NYC expert last lipstick. This lipstick is creamy as you can see. It's very very bright. I am not a huge fan of pink lipstick but I love how pigmented it is. It's a very nice pop of color in my otherwise bare face.

The last item was this press on manicure from ImPRESS nails. I have not worn fake nails since probably middle school. I have also never had acrylic nails from the salon. My own nails are fairly strong and long as it is so I have never had the desire. But I was very intrigued by these since they seemed so easy.

I will have a full review up of these nails soon, because I have a lot to say about them!

Are you a member of Influenster? Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments below.

Kmart beauty clearance haul

A couple weeks ago I heard that Kmart would be having a lot of their beauty section on clearance. So I went to my local Kmart and hunted down what I could find.

The section wasn't as fully stocked as I heard it would be, but I still came out with some great scores!

So from left to right we have
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Red Velvet which was on clearance for $3.50
Elf Long-lasting Lustrous Eyeshadow in Festivity I am unsure of the price on this but I think it was $1
Wet n Wild Fast Dry nail polish in Teal of Fortune this was $1
Revlon nail polish in Heavenly a beautiful glitter topper which was $2.50
Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez set which has Pretty in Plum and Gumdrops  in it. I think this was $2 or $3
Jordana Popart nail design with precision brush in Artsy Purple this was $1
and last, Elf Makeup lock & seal which I've heard is a great way to turn regular eyeshadows into eyeliners (it's a mixing medium/sealing gel) I have yet to try it but since it was only $1.50 I picked up two.

Revlon Colorburst lip butter in Red Velvet. One swipe on the left and a few swipes on the right. As you can see it's already pretty pigmented on one swipe but its also easy to build it up stronger.
I haven't worn this on my lips yet so I don't know how it will look on my lips.

This is the Elf long lasting lustrous eyeshadow which is kinda like a mousse type eyeshadow. It is a plum with lots of sparkles and silver flash.
It looks brown in this pictures but it is much more plum in real life. The purple is definitely there. above you can see the left is a built up swatch and the right is one quick swipe. But the difference in color is because of the angle the light is hitting it- see

As you can see switching the angle made the left swatch show the sparkles more and you can see the pigmentation of just one swipe on the right.

So all in all it was a pretty good haul. I paid probably less than $15 for all of this which is pretty good considering I got some great items especially the Nicole by OPI polishes.

If you have a Kmart near you I definitely suggest checking out their beauty section to see if you can find any other great items on clearance!

Have you ever tried any of the things I picked up? I have yet to use them so I hope I like them! If not, at least I didn't spend much :)

Profusion Endless Jewels swatches

You might remember around Christmas time I bought a few Profusion palettes because they only seem to pop up at drugstores during the holiday season.

I never got a chance to talk about this one but I really wanted to share some swatches with you because the colors are so so pretty!

The outside sheds some light on what the inside looks like- it is a little booklet that has two levels of products inside.

The top layer looks like this and I'm sure you immediately see some great colors. My eye went straight to the mint green on the bottom, then gazed approvingly at the pink, purple, and navy shades.

This is the left side of the first row. Shimmery white, olive with a gold tint (Almost a khaki color) and a champagne.

this is the right side of the top row. More pale colors in the white/pink/cream family.

The 2nd row is extremely pigmented and includes some gorgeous colors.

The purple and blue from the middle row are so gorgeous!

This is the bottom row and you can see that beautiful minty color above. Ignore the bottom left color, I was trying to show a comparison to something but I don't remember what, ha!

When you flip open the top layer you can see the bottom layer which has 9 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 6 lipglosses, and one crappy dual ended brush.

I must say I hate when companies put lip products and powder in the same area because the powder kicks up and makes the lip products gross. Luckily, I'm not a fan of using these types of lip products anyway so to me they are just a waste of space.

Here's a close up of the shadows because I'm so into the blue-teal shades!

yeah. they're beautiful.

It's hard to see the purple above so I included a second picture.

Here's the 2nd row of colors and the blushes. Honestly those colors look pretty similar to some of the colors in the top layer! The blushes are okay but nothing special to me. The one on the right is too orange or my skintone I think.

Here are swatches of the lip products which are not that impressive if we're being honest.

So this palette is one that I wish I could depot my favorites from and forget the rest. Even though all of the shadows are pigmented and pretty, I just don't have a use for most of them.

Overall, this palette was well worth the $5! If you caught it after Christmas was over, it was on clearance for even cheaper.

What do you think of this palette? Worth five bucks?!

FOTD to complement the Florida winter and mask depression

In February two things happened. My best friend came home to visit and we are the type of people who spend lots of time outside. It also got uncharacteristically cold in Florida.

On my BFF's last night in town I ended up having one of my favorite FOTD looks. I was dressed in head to toe black and needed some major color to brighten up my look. Of course since it was winter (and actually felt like it for once) I wasn't drawn to actual bright colors like orange..pink..purple.
I also felt like the dark lip was the perfect companion to this eye look.
The depression comes from having to say goodbye to my best friend, but at least I looked good doing it.

I don't know I just really liked this look so I hope you like it too!

Unfortunately I don't have any products to list for this look as I was trying to get out the door to my friend's house.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to think of a way to describe this look. can you think of anything?

This picture highlights the phenomenon known as uneven wings

a mirror OOTD picture thrown in for good measure...I assure you everything I was wearing was black...just different shades of black I suppose. I wore a black hooded dress, a black studded leather jacket from Dots, and a black studded scarf (I hid the studded ends because they clashed with the jacket)

So like I said I just wanted to share this because I really liked how it turned out :)

Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeliner holiday gift set

It was the beginning of the holiday season when I spotted this set on display. It was part of the Wet n Wild display featuring Fergie products and other products that were mostly parts of sets- as is common to hit drug stores around Christmas.

You might remember when I posted about the Wet n Wild Idol eyes gift set I found at big lots. I wanted to compare the two sets and I have to say they are not even in the same league. It's truly difficult to believe that these came from the same company.

I couldn't help but snatch this up for only $5. 5 eyeliners for $5, it's pretty much a no brainer. Even though they are miniature eyeliners, I still feel the price was fair and worth it.

I couldn't pass these up because they were such fun colors, not your usual blacks and browns (ok yes there is one black)

I couldn't wait to swatch and use these but let me be honest- after I swatched them I sort of forgot about them! Yikes. I pulled them out recently and on a whim used the middle color above to fill in my eyebrows. It was so fun and I loved the way it looked.  I will do that again in another look as I didn't get very good pictures of it.

BAM! Those swatches are rich and pigmented and oh so pretty. I am sitting here looking at them, kicking myself for not using them more. That purple! those blues! That pink! and yes even that black! So great. So soft and easy to work with- reminded me a little bit of the Urban Decay 24/7 glide on pencils. These aren't long lasting or waterproof or anything but the texture and how they glide on are similar.

If I was presented with the choice I would definitely choose this set over the other. I know the other set also has more 'traditional' colors so if that is more your cup of tea, that might have appealed to you more.

So now that you have seen both kits side by side, which one is your favorite?!

March IPSY Glam bag

It's April. Meaning I totally failed at getting March's glam bag up actually DURING March. Shuttup. I'll get it next month.

Time slips away from me. Honestly. But I quite liked March's bag so I want to talk about it!

I am going to put this post under a read more cut because there are a lot of pictures! However if you're familiar with my blog you probably already are used to that ;)

The Pretty Little Liars tag

I have a confession...I am totally embarrassingly obsessively in love with Pretty Little Liars.
Like, legit, never felt this way about a TV show before. I'm so invested!

So ever since the season finale a few weeks ago I've been going crazy wishing the new season was back. When PinkCupcake posted this PLL tag I knew it was finally time to talk about my favorite TV show on my blog. She tweaked an original tag so I don't really know who started the tag itself but I really like it. If you also watch PLL I highly suggest you do this tag too! And also let's pick apart every detail of every episode and count down the days until June 10th.

I want to post about this show more, whether it's recaps or reactions, makeup and fashion looks, manicures, and PLL Parties (my coworkers and I have had a party and have planned others).

So I don't think I will have that many spoilers but I would still say that if you are not caught up STOP READING now! If you still want to do the tag I can send you the questions- they are spoiler free.

1. Who is your favourite character?
This is hard but I think I'm gonna have to say Alison. She's so complex.

2. Who do you think is behind the A-Team?
I am losing out on theories. I think that the twin theory is very plausible, so there's that. But everyone else I thought was in the police station during the finale soo obviously it's not them?

3. Who do you ship?
Aria/Ezra, Spencer/Toby , Hanna/Holbrook heheheh ...I don't really ship Emily with anyone but Maya lol

4. Most memorable cheesy moment?
I don't know how to answer this I mean there aren't a lot of cheesy moments in this show. Well besides the show itself. Lol

5. Favourite Villain?
Mona is a little shit. I also liked when Ezra was being portrayed as evil.

6. Who do you think might become a villain?
I don't even know. It's like the show won't be happy until they make everyone a villain for at least an episode.

7. Which girl do you think has been hurt the most by A?
Probably Hanna. if Maya had been killed by A I would say Emily but...she wasn't. Lol

8. Which girls style do you love the most?
Aria for the most part. There's someee stuff thats a little too out there even for me, but, overall I like her style the best.

9. Who's your crush on the show?
Ezra *sigh* and Holbrook....and Caleb.

10. Who is your least favorite character on the show? (out of everyone and out of the 4 girls)
Out of everyone is definitely Paige ugh I do not like her even though I want to. Out of the girls, Emily because she doesn't stand up for herself enough.

11. What was the most shocking moment for you?
When both Toby and Ezra were revealed to be "A" even though supposedly none of these things were true which is why I have trust issues with this show

12. What would you do if A was after you?
I mean.....you have to have a suspension of disbelief to follow this show lol...In almost all instances I would go to the police. Or track down the number texting because..you now..technology can do that.

13. What has been your favorite episode so far?
Oh gosh...I couldn't even say.  I can't pick a favorite.

14. Which of the girls do you think you relate to the most?
Aria or Spencer.

I felt it was also pretty fitting to post this on a tuesday to try and fill the void that the finale has left me.

Comment below with your theories and let me know if you end up doing the tag also!!
